It has been almost a year since I visited Amsterdam, the beautiful canal city of Netherlands. Despite all the comments people have made about the magic mushrooms, coffee shop, red light district, I experienced an artistic, romantic and eco city. The rich history, the distinguished architecture, artistic heritage and elaborate canal system, made my experience so rich that I can still feel the cold wind on my face and smell the cheddar from the cheese shop.

We landed on a miserable raining day, we picked up our Citron Cleo and quickly made our way to the city. To me the beauty of the city was never deceased in this raining day, instead there is a romantic flavour spread in the air. However be a first timer I only can enjoy this crisp raining beauty for so long before I start to curse this summer weather.

Walking along the canals, there are bicycles everywhere, by the bridge, in front of shops, next to a tree, that says a lot about this city. It is probably one of the most environmental friendly cities in Europe. The bicycles lanes are marked clearly on the road, it is so easy for residents' everyday commute. And of course we hired bikes to experiene what is like to be a local through riding through all these narrow streets. The streets are narrow so does the building entrance. Apparently back to the old days, residence paying their house tax by the width of their door way, thus you can see the narrow door way with steep staircase. However once you enter the house it actually quite spacious in the other direction.

Now Anne Frank’s House and Van Gogh museum, to me they are definitely worth seeing, it is culture and also to understand the rich history. The museum corner/park of Amsterdam is modern, well organised and full of cultural events. Oh and the music!! There are street artists performing in the tunnel, it is so classy and just added that extra flavour to enhance your senses while you riding through.

One thing is not so apparelling to me is the smell of weed, you probably can get high just by smelling them while you walking pass. To me if these shops can be situated in a dedicated area would be perfect. Personally I don’t mind these sex workers' booth that much, I think it is a good idea that they are all situated in the certain area of the town, and they all presented well in their little booth rather than standing on the street, to me it is probably safer for them and safer for other people.

To me Amsterdam is beautiful, romantic and special with its own character, I am sure there are so much more quality she can offer, maybe something different at each time.
